ePure Membrane Jelly Masque [Review]

Some of you may have already heard of this, some may have not. But today, i would be giving you my review and opinion on this.

The main ingredient in this product is Hyaluronic Acid (HA) "hyiah-lu-ro-nic acid". And why is HA so important t our skin? It is the ingredient for moisture and giving us that soft bouncy skin. As we age, our skin doesn't retain and hold as much HA as a baby or when we are younger, so it is important to fill it back and pamper our skin with HA.

HA exist in many products that we see around (just check the ingredient list). So why this some may ask, this is not just any ordinary mask but it penetrates into your skin so it's not just your outer layer of skin that gets it but deep down inside as well.

Taken from epureskin.com

"éPure Membranous Jelly Masque

Developed by the renowned Dr Yulong Moy from USA, is the first-of-its-kind facial mask with ACF (Active Cellular Factor)

Description
Developed by the renowned Dr Yulong Moy from USA, ePure Membranous Jelly Masque is the first-of-its-kind facial mask with ACF (Active Cellular Factor). This unique mask retain 70% more moisture than other sheet mask, it forces the skin pores to fully absorb the nourishing ingredients while drawing out the impurities instantaneously. it also inhibit melanin synthesis, which lightens pigmentation, balances uneven skin tone, leaves your skin brighter and supple with dewy fresh vibrance."

I've had a few friends approaching me to buy this in the beginning and I wasn't quite convinced because I was told it was RM89 per sachet. I was like HELLNO I'm paying so much for that! And let's just say they didn't give enough information to convince me or make me believe it. You know it was one of those times when you don't really buy it and think how can it work?  (p/s. i won't mention what was told to me)

But then i was on hishop.my browsing through as one of my usual boredom days, i stumbled upon this product and this time i got to read the desciption and really read and find out what it really was. Instantly I wanted to give it a try. But remembering the price my friend gave me, i decided to look further and i found a tub version instead of the sachet. So i bought the tub one, I personally prefer it in a tub as i can control how much i want to apply and store it easily.

Say Hello to Chi Chi as a comparison and a companion to the new commer membranous jelly masque.

A clear description on what it does. It is stated that it increases the skin moisture by 30-50%, and restores and balances your skin as well as melanin synthesis and in the end you will have a brighter, supple dewey fresh face.

Comes with a seal sticker

Finally, Does it deliver what it says?? Read on...

The most common issues that nowadays we would have is blackheads, uneven skintone, dark/dull skintone, freckles and pigmentations, wrinkles, acne, redness, eczema, roseacea, oily skin, dry, skin, combination skin, sensitive skin and the list goes on and on. And APPARENTLY, this product is THE product that saves everyone from all that trouble with just ONE product and instantly?? a little too much to believe right? Then all the other beauty skincare company will hate them go bankrupt or start stealing their secret recipes already.

My skin type:
- Sensitive skin with rosecea
- Freckles and pigmentation
- Darkcircles and puffy eyes
- Combination oily skin
- Blackheads and pores.

How to use:
1. Remove makeup and cleanse your face.
2. *Optional step* Apply Toner and Serum for better effects.
3. Use the spatula and evenly apply the mask for about 0.3mm-0.5mm thickness
4. Let the mask do their work for 40minutes
5. Use the spatula to scrape of access mask and rinse off.

So did it work?
As most mask does, after you rinse if off, you immediately see a bright nice shiny dewy face. So, it does work! but the problem with most things are, how long does it last?

For this product, it is advised and stated for maximum long lasting effect and result, For the first month, use three times a week, then after that you cut it down to once a week. So with frequent usage, you'd get a maximum result out of it. (In a way, it's also a very good advertising scheme right?) BUT, all things don't last forever, we wash our face everyday, we grow old everyday, our skin produce oil everyday so eventually whatever we put on our surface of the skin would be washed off. So we need to apply them back to give back everything that our skin needs.

One thing that i have noticed with this is that, my skin has been better, it has reduced my rosecea and the sensitivity of my skin. AND my pores are now tighter. So those with bigger pores, this product will definately help you. In terms of my freckles, I really need to use it for a longer run in order to really see if there is really a difference and would it really help.

I personally don't believe in products that works overnight miraculously.Because scientifically speaking, that would be one hell of a chemical product in order to make it work right? For example, if my freckles were to go away in ONE night, wouldn't that mean there is alot of bleach or chemical in it to make it dissapear? Then what happens to the other spots that I applied that doesn't have freckles, would it get whiter? Then i would end up with white patchy spots right? If a product is a overnight miracle, means, it's a one time usage, not a daily usage. But for this membrane jelly masque, in long term usage, my skin would be able to absorb it and work with it in long run. So we will see if my skin will age quicker and pores will get larger.

Pros:
- It made my skin brighter with a radiance.
- Tighten my pores.
- Clears up my skin and calms
- A tub can go a long way.

Cons:
- Quite expensive.
- A little troublesome to wash off, you'll need patience and time.
- Not a morning wake up instant quick mask.

Would i Recommend it?
YES. It's a good investment.

It's Uncle Albert's time

Some of you may not know, Uncle Albert's Traditional English Fish & Chips is now available in Ipoh.

"The great-grand uncle of Uncle Albert spent his life in the sea around Ireland. One day, he encountered a terrifying storm and he ended up in England. From there, he set up his first Traditional English Fish and Chips, and later on he expanded and had many succesful restaurants around England and Ireland. His secret battered fish and chips recipe still remains withint the family till this very day. "

So that's the last i heard of it, and the shortest brief story i've heard of it. Here in Ipoh, now you can have genuine fish and chips. Located next to Healy Mac's at Greentown, my dad's friend told him about this place and we decided to give it a try on a Saturday night. Being a weekend at first we were a little worried there wouldn't be any space, but we were lucky enough to get one.

Their very iconic logo. Damn school right. LOL

The current menu. reminds me of Aussie, where the menu's are all white background, plain and comic sans font. LOL
I really like the 'Fish' section, it gives us something to read. Maybe parents with kids can teach them to read and explain about it. Well, at least that's what my dad does and will do.

So it being new, they currently have a Special Opening Promotion where every main course you order, you get a FREE homemadesoup (cost RM13), FREE garlic bread (cost RM10) and FREE Ice cream (cost RM8)

It didn't take us very long to wait for our food, but i still had some time to camwhore around.

The FREE seafood cowder and garlic bread that i had. The seafood cowder soup, was amazing, it has such a homemade feeling, and that garlic bread was so cripsy i wish they had more.

Their signature Traditional Fish and Chips. which cost RM59. *heartpain.
and cut potato fries. yuuummmmm.

The batter was cripsy on the outside soft on the inside, it wasn't too thick to the state where i felt like i was eating flour, and it wasn't too thin too, the fish was nicely done and soft and it just melted in my mouth. Made me felt like i was in cottlestoe by the beach side eating fish and chips.

And the beef burger my brother ordered. The patty was nice, soft and felt like real mince beef rather than cheap liver organ beef patty kind. But it's a little too plain if you ask me.

For those who want a to try a better Fish and Chips, you should head down there. They offer burgers, shrimps and pasta as well, if we don’t imagination eating fish.

So Uncle Albert's is PORK FREE. (but alcohol is served)
Opening hours: 12:00 pm- 10:30 pm
Address: Ground Floor, No. 4 Persiaran Greentown 4, Greentown avenur, 30450 Ipoh, Perak.

Sunscreen and SPF 101

Today, I'm going to be talking about Sunscreen and SPF's. People that i've met usually compliment me on my skin and complexion, this, i got to give great thanks to genes and my blood. BUT, opportunity was given, i took the effort and hardworking to keep it and maintain it.

So Sunscreen..What is it? As simple as it is, it blocks the sun, keeps you from getting sun burnt or aging faster. Why do we need it? Because we want to stay pretty. Now, one thing that everybody needs to know is, Don't come and tell me "whoa... your complexion so pretty! i want your skin! i love your skin! i wish i had your skin!" but then you are too lazy too do anything or apply anything. how to stay pretty leh? I wasn't born pretty, i worked and put in alot of effort into it.

So here am i, guiding you and telling you. If you are those girls who goes "i don't like to use make up." or "i don't really use makeup" because of many reasons, one thing that you NEED to put. is sunscreen. Sunscreen is not makeup, sunscreen is a skincare. Even for guys, just because you put sunscreen, it doesn't make you gay. So don't complain, if you're not putting any effort in.

What is SPF?
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and shows to what degree a product prevents sunburn. Since sunburn is caused by UVB radiation, SPF rating give no indication of how well a product will protect you from UVA radiation (responsible for skin aging and skin cancer). A higher value means you get more protection. As sunburn is caused by UVB radiation SPF is only a measure of how much UVB is blocked, not how much UVA. So while you may be using the highest SPF available, you are still completely vulnerable to UVA radiation - which causes skin cancer and skin aging. For protection against both UVA and UVB rays you will need a 'broad spectrum' product.

So what SPF would be right for you? This is entirely up to you depending on your product, to calculate how much you would be protected, you take the number of the SPF, add a zero at the back and you'd get how many minutes you'd be protected, and to divide 60, you would know how many hours it is.
For example,
SPF15 = 150 minutes = 2 hours and 30 minutes
SPF30 = 300 minutes = 5 hours.

Then, some have asked me, The higher the SPF, the better they are?
Not entirely true i can say. SPF15 blocks roughly 93% and SPF30 blocks roughly 97%, and anything above SPF30, it's the same as 97%.
Next up, one have asked me "I can get SPF100 then i would be very sun safe and don't have to reapply?"
The answer to this is NO! I would not advise you to get anything above SPF50. This is because, the longer the hours the product gives, the more oil it contains even though it says 'oil-free' or whatsoever. but after 5 hours, your product melts, evaporate, moves and your protection barrier from the SPF is used up, so to make it last longer, they use oil. Which means, in long term run, the results are reversed and you get darker instead of keeping as fair as how you are.

So i would suggest you go lower than SPF50. And don't forget to reapply every two/three hours if you are going underwater and if you spf is a spf20.

So what is the difference between UVA and UVB?
UVA is Ultra Violet Aging(long wave) and UVB is Ultra Violet Burning(shortwave). UVA penetrates into your skin causing aging, cancer, wrinkles and so on, where UVB burns the surface of your skin. Both UVA and UVB, however, penetrate the atmosphere and play an important role in conditions such as premature skin aging, eye damage (including cataracts), and skin cancers. They also suppress the immune system, reducing your ability to fight off these and other maladies.

For a clearer information, i came up with something so that you can understand.

Here i have found an image from the internet from here that explains the difference between UVA and UVB and what it does so that it wouldn't be so complicated. They are part of the sunrays that penetrates to our skin, but the effect that UVA and UVB both gives to our human skin are different. UVB penetrates deep into the skin causing skin aging, and damage into our tissue and as the years pass by, it will grow out to the surface of our skin and NOT making us pretty. Where UVB only penetrates to the Epidermis layer of the skin which causes sunburn and tanning.

This is why it is important that when you buy yourr sunblock/sunscreen, you have to not just know the SPF that you have but as well as what kind of coverage you are getting. Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen as seen in the image above are sunscreen that blocks BOTH UVA and UVB.

Next up, What is PA? and does how many + makes a difference?
PA refers to the ammount of protection the sunscreen offers to UVA. And yes, the more + you get, the more protection you get. Ranking list from PA+, PA++, PA+++.

To make it a much more clearer explanation. SPF coveres UVB and PA coveres UVA.

Here, I have also bring up a video by Michelle Phan where she talks about sunscreens as well. I know i don't normally post up videos as such and so, but just in case you guys get bored with all the words but the message must be sent out and i don't do videos. Well, not yet. LOL You can also read up on her blog here.

"prevention is better than cure"

How is my face routine for keeping myself sun-safe?
- After cleansing my face, i take a cotton pad and pour toner on it and dab/wipe my face with it. (I switch alternative between days, I am currently using SKII Facial Treatment Clear Lotion, Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2, Dr. G Blue Blue Toner, Nuskin PH Balance Toner )
- Next I apply a small ammount on my t-zone with the Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture Combination Skin to mattify my face as i am combination oily skin.
- I'll then leave it on for a bout few minutes, i like to let my product absorb and dry up before i go on with the next later.
- Next up would be either my Laneige Water Supreme Primer Base SPF15 PA+ (If i am having redness that day), or usually, i go with my all-time favourite Lioele Powdery Sun Chiffon SPF 50+/PA+++ (i only skip this if my face is feeling flaky that day as this is a primer base that dries up and makes the flakes looks worst). IF i am flaky that day, i would go for my touchinSOL Be Nice to my Skin Sun Cream SPF30 PA++
- Then i would see what is my occasion, if i am in a hurry, i would go for my KATE Powderless Liquid for COVER SPF20/PA++. If i want to have a clean fair flawless look, i would go for one of my BB Creams (GARNIER BB Cream SPF26/PA+++, Bio Platinum BB Cream SPF25/PA++, touchinSOL In the Skin Renovation BB Cream SPF36/PA++, BRTC Aqua Rush Waterdrop BB Cream SPF28/PA++, Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit SPF30/PA++, Skin79 Hot Pink BB Cream SPF25/PA++, and the list goes on but these are my current ones that i am using. I normally pick which to use according to how i want the after look to be.)
- And after doing my eyes, brows, lips and contour blush etc, I would finish up with my MAKEUP FOREVER HD Powder to set everything in.

So with after all the steps, I know and am confident of stepping under the sun for a few good hours knowing i am fully protected.

Stay tune, for Sunscreen and SPF 102 where i would be talking about physical and chemical sunscreens and any other questions that would be asked by anyone or commonly. And for now, go buy yourself sunscreen if you don't have one YET.

Nature&Co Vital Purity Lift Mask [Review]

When i recently purchased some products from hishop, i received two free products samples, (it's not just for me, any of you who purchase from there get to select two free products samples too). One of the product that i have chosen is the Nature&Co Vital Purity Lift Mask. You may also purchase the full size of 140ml/6.3oz at RM88.90.

Nature&Co is a sister company to Kose. This is one of the mask from the Vital Purity range which is their firming and lifting range.
The main ingredients of the Vital Purity range is
- Lavender Extract (contains large qualities of polyhenol, lavender has antiseptic, sedative, anti-inflammatory action and can also enchance healing power as well as sooth anxiety)
- Chamomile Extract (known as the 'apple on the ground' by the Ancient Geeks, Chamomile not only speeds healing of wounds but also has sedative and digestive actions)
- Vitamin E (With it's antioxidant action, phot-protective and moisturizing effects and healthy maintenance of the stratum corneuem's barrier function, it works with collagen to effectively inhibit wrinkles)
- Collagen Extract (Contributing to the skin's elasticity, collagen counteracts skin aging through water retaining and protective membrane forming functions. It is also effective in enchancing moisture-retaining properties and skin regeneration.
- GABA Extract (used in food products known for it's relaxation effects and used in cosmetic to be effetively stimulating cells)

So what does this product do?

  • Tightens pores and smoothens skin texture
  • This cool-feeling lift mask smoothens out sagging skin
  • The natural clay ingredients banish dullness to produce soft, smooth skin
  • No artificial coloring

  • Beauty Formulation:
    - Organic plant extract essence (moisturizing)
    - Organic lavender extract essence
    - Organic chamomile extract essence
Ingredients for healthy, firm, and lustrous skin:- Natural Vitamin E (emollient)- Collagen (moisturizing)- GABA (moisturizing)- Hot spring water
So how do you use it?
Apply once or twice a week after washing your face. Spread an amount about the size of four cherries evenly over your face so that the skin is covered and rinse off/wash off after approximately 5 minutes. Apply skin lotion/toner to complete the skin treatment. Some people may have seen or was told that it is a peeled off mask, THIS IS NOT, it's a clay wash-off mask.

So here is how the sample size looks like, (sorry it's opened. LOL) It is not stated on the pack what is the size. But i guess it's about 13ml? When i opened the packet, I was expecting to finish the sachet in one application, but when i started applying it, I realized this packet could be used in 2 or maybe 3 applications. But it's quite hard to save it as it is a clay mask and would dry up. PLUS, it doesn't have any container or proper estimation. So i decided to apply it GENEROUSLY to get the most out of it.

As you can see (Please excuse for the unglam photo of me), i have applied a very very VERY generous ammount of it. This mask is a clay mask, it smells like BABY POWDER+hospital. HAHAHAA. Okay, it's not bad Dettol Hospital smell, but more of clean sanitise baby smell. HAHAA, i was pretty addicted to the smell. Some may smell it as a herbal smell, but i can't get hold of the specific term to that smell, but it is like baby powder smell at baby clinic ward smell. HAHAHAA. You should really try to smell it and try to describe it.

This mask glides onto your skin really easily. Unlike other clay mask or mud mask where it will be messy and your fingers or spatula will be covered with it, OR unlike others where you apply it on and it's very hard to glide as it dries fast. This doesn't dry SUPER fast, and it's not super slow as well.

Did it Do what it says??
    - It definately tightened my pores.
    - It definately firmed up my skin, though i do not have saggy skin, but trust me, you REALLY FEEL THE FIRM
    - It definately gave a soft smooth skin, but i wasn' sure if it was a after wash effect. BUT, after a day, my skin still feels soft and smooth.
On top of that, It is sensitive-free!! So those of you who have sensitive skin, eczema, rosecea or acne, be afraid NOT, this is SAFE. This product has tightened my pores with only ONE use and has also reduced the redness, so it's a big points from me.

    Would I Purchase This?
    YES, I am waiting to.

    Would I Recommend It?
    YES, DEFINATELY.

    Where can you get it?
You can get it at hishop.my here for RM88.90.

Venus & Olay Gel Razer [Review]

How many of you ladies out there wish we were born without underarm hairs, and hairs on our legs, hands and unwanted area? Well 2 out of 10 of my friends are fortunate enough to NOT need to shave their entire life because they just look as if puberty forgot to hit them. (but mind you, they have asses and boobs and pimples too).

But today, it's about hair. I started shaving since i was 17, when i started uni and started wearing clothes asides from uniform everyday and started loving tube tops and realize i need to shave. I was fortunate enough to have an older sister to learn from and to ask. Since, she was a person who shaved, so that was what she taught me. But very unfortunately, my skin was much more sensitive compared to her, everytime i shave, i have problems with itching skin, red swollen pores, razor bumps or innergrown hair. I've tried razors/shavers from Schick, to Bic to Gillette and even disposable ones and random brands such as jusco or watson or guardian and the other names which i could not remember at this very moment. Back then, Watsons in Malaysia use to sell Shaving Gel Cream for females, then somehow they discontinued it. BOO-HOO.

That was how i had to deal with it until i went to Perth, Australia, and i was going to purchase a new razor, and normally when i want to get something, i'll stand at the aisle for a very very very long period of time looking at the products one by one analysing and deciding what i want to get, i remember being at Coles, i stood there picking from razors to razors and i suddenly saw this.

It was advertised and labeled Built-in Shave Gel. And i got to myself thinking "hey, why not?" so i grabbed the pink one which is the Spa Breeze Razor and i immediately loved it.

It wasn't until i came back here and searched high and low and i couldn't find it. UNTIL i spot it at Watons Singapore. They have the new range of Gel Shavers which they have collaborated with Olay.

I couldn't be any happier, I do wax and all, but shaving is always a life saver. And people with sensitive skin like me, it's a bigger life saver. The new Venus&Olay Gel Razor is now not just Gel-Free, Sensitive-Free and it is now also built in moisture bar to lock in that moisture so your skin wouldn't be dry and irritated.

Ever had that moment when after you shave, your skin feels tight, irritated, your pores get sore and red? It's because your skin is dry, shaving your hair kinda shaves and pushes the moisture out as well.

The New Venus&Olay comes in 5 blades that gets you closer and with a much more cleaner shave.
With the moisture bar locking in the moisture
No need to purchase seperate Shaving Cream.
    Soft Grip for confident control
Comes with a shower hook to place your shower.

This razor is not a disposable razor, and the gel will not be finished in one application. It takes a few, and the moisture gel bar is finished, you can detach the head and buy the refillable cartidge head to put it on, which saves you cost as well cause you only need to replace the head.

    My thoughts on this:
I personally like this among all the other razors/shavers available out there, it's because I don't need a shaving cream. It's easy to be held and carried around. Some people do get annoyed that the once the gel is used up then I would need to purchase the refill heads but I find this a good thing, because I would then be changing a new razor head as well without me calculating and monitoring how many weeks I am using my current one. Changing blades is a good thing because bacterial doesn't get into your skin and shaving is a very sensitive thing as it is very close to your skin. At the same time i don't have to worry about rusty or blunt blades. According to Gillete Venus here, it is recommended to change your blade after 5-10 shaves, for a clean hygiene skin.

    Pros:
    - Easy to Use
    - Do not need shaving creams
    - Smooth after effect with the locking moisture that it provides.
    - Pleasant Scent
    - Not super expensive
    - Refillable cartidge

    Cons:
    - They look dirty after shaving with all the hair sticking to the gel bars, but with proper cleaning and care.
    - Can't leave it wet or by the sink as the water will dissolve the gel bars.
    - The gel bars may look ugly in the end of usage and it's not very guest appealing.
    - Not available everywhere.

I got them from Watson Singapore at about $12. If you are in the UK or the US you'd probably get them from your drugstore. If you are in Australia, you would get them in Coles, Woolies, Priceline, Target as well as Kmart and all the drugstores.

Normal Eyelash Curler VS Heated Eyelash Wand

How many of you curl your lashes daily and do you need them?

If you are Asian, you would problem have this problem - short stubborn straight lashes.
Right? If you are not Asian, you'd probably have amazing long pretty lashes that wouldn't have problem with curling them.

I have not really been a lash-fan. I do not use fake lashes nor am i obssessed with curling them (past-tense), and the reason it's because i have never been able to get the curl that i want. So back then, if i use mascara or not, it didn't really have any difference unless you are an inch away from my face.

The first regular manual eyelash curler, was the shuumera one because everyone has been raving sooooo much about it that i had to get one because it was being raved so much. Unfortunately, i did not have a good experience with it. I'm not saying that it is bad, but it is just my experience on it.
(note: just because i had a bad experience with it and it doesn't suit me, doesn't mean it's not going to be with you. So a tip for you, go into a shuumera counter to request to try it out )

After the rubber tip tore, i did not bother to buy a refill, because i wasn't allow to buy a refill, and i felt it was a little stupid to buy the curler again as it did not suit me. So i stayed away from curlers, until when i was in Hong Kong this year, I walked into a japanese shop in Langham Place where they sold all sorts of Japanese skin care and cosmetic stuff and for those who know me, that placed was heaven for me. The unfortunate thing about being in Malaysia is, things are limited.

As i was going through the eyelash section, everything was in Japanese! damn i wish i knew how to read at that moment, i didn't know the difference between each, and some of the same brand and design had two different kinds, so i guess it was the size of the curve of the curler. I figured, these stuff are from Japan, so they should be suited for Asian stubborn lashes right?? Then it hit me that Shuumera was from japan as well, but then as i was browsing through, i figured and guessed out and grabbed the smaller size of the curl ones. Turns out, it fit my lashes and was much more useful and beneficial compared to the shuumera one.

It wasn't until two months ago, i got sick of using the curler because everytime it just doesn't curl and turn out to how i want it and travelling with it was hard. As my makeup bag is normally full, so stuffy a chunky curler wasn't easy. Till then i decided to get a heated eyelash curler, and while i was in Singapore, i saw a few from SASA. They were some different brands from sasatinne to 1000hour and some other ones, i decided to pick 1000hour because it's an australian brand, and it just feels trustable. After i first used the heated eyelash curler, i practically abandoned my normal eyelash curler until now.

As you can see, how inconvenient is a regular lash curler to be brought out for touch ups or to be stuffed inside the makeup bag, and now with the heated curler wand, I can just chuck it into my make up bag and doesn't take much space.  I have abandoned it for that reason and also mainly, the heated eyelash curler gave me the effects and outcome better comparison to the normal regular manual eyelash curler clamp.

    What are the differences??

The heated eyelash wand gives a smooth waving curl, and I also get to adjust how curly I want it to be. Whereas for the regular eyelash curler clamps your eyelashes and you have no way to undo it, and another thing about it is that it clamps my lashes in a 90 degree way and rather than a nice aging curling lash.

Are you a clamper or a heater? What is your favorite lash curler? Do share your stories as I would love to read them :)

The one that i've gotten back for this review is in white in color. I'm actually quite (correction: VERY) happy to receive the white color one from starhub. Many who know me well enough have known that i  favor white phones over the others. I've had the white iphone, white blackberry bold2, white s3. and now i have received the white blackberry q5 (note: i DID NOT request the color)

Very amazing isn't it? If you have seen the Q10, you'd see the slight difference here. Between the Q10 and the Q5, it's like between the Bold and the Curve. As they say the Q10 is an upgrade of the Bold and the Q5 is an upgrade of the Curve, see the resemblance? This design is quite a love hate kind, where some people may love it, some may hate it, some may find it interesting, some might think it's not attractive at all. Price wise, of course te Q5 is cheaper than the Q10 and it isn't as powerful as the Q10 as well.

Unboxing the Q5, in the box, it comes with the manual, safety and product information, a power socket head, and USB>microUSB head cable and a earphones.

note: the 2180 mAh Li-on battery is not removable. So you don't get an extra battery unboxing it.
I know there is a little downside with the non-removable battery, to be honest i was a little shock in the beginning because i thought only apple does that.

Here is a comparison of my Blackberry Bold2 and the Blackberry Q5. *thumbs up the the white-ness*. As we can say the bold or the curve has a same color display frame as the housing, whereas the Q5 and the Q10 has a standard black display frame even with a different color housing. The size of the Q5 at 3.1" inch isn't to say it's small nor huge but it's enough for a touch screen display phone with a qwerty keypad.

The phone hands on. In comparison of the size, at 120 x 66 x 10.8mm, and weighing at 120g, it fits into my palm perfectly. *note: i've got small hands* with the new loading look when i turn on the phone.

    The Design

This blackberryQ5 comes in the new (not so anymore) Blackberry 10 OS, which my Bold doesn't have, so it is pretty impressive to me. When i first turn it on, what amazed me was the loading screen. It no longer has that boring black loading line. The Qwerty keypad has a backlight so now you aren't afraid to type in the dark or to say you can't see. They have the standard 4 row qwerty keypad, but there isn't any accepting calls or rejecting calls icon. In terms of responsive and lagging, it is no where near that.

Okay, enough of the external what about the internal?

The Q5 runs on Blackberry10 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 4, on Dual-core 1.2 GHz. With a 2180 mAh battery, it is quite alot to last you a full day of using it as the iphone5 is only at 1440mAh and the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes in 2100mAh. With my S3, it could last me a day, but remember i am a full on user and with all the feature that the S3 has and running, the battery runs out faster.

The Q5 doesn't have a call/reject button, so the quickest way, is to search manually or tap into Phone directly. This would be a little confusing in the beginning as it would take some time to get into Dialer, but once you know where it is, it may come in handy. But not to be fear, there is a phone icon at the left bottom where you use tap, and you get into it where you could see all your phone logs and there would be three tabs at the bottom ; Calls, Contacts and Dial Pad.

With the Q5, you can be accessed to Box or Dropbox (a much more common one), and with the external memory card where you can go up to 64gb, i bet you would have plenty of space to play around with.

What i like about this phone, is that, it has Docs To Go (doc. exc. ppt. ) so convenient when you are on the go. They also have Adobe Reader where it automatically stores any .pdf files in there and could be shared/send straight from there.

    Camera

Firstly, as a girl, taking photos is really super important. The Q5 comes in a 5mp back camera that has autofocus and LED flash. It also comes with a 2mp front camera. How well is it? Let's test it out.

    Front Camera during day light

The amazing thing about this camera feature is that, i just tap the screen to capture it. i say TAP not TOUCH. because it is THAT AMAZING AND SENSITIVE!! Normally we got to Tap to focus, and Touch to snap. It's fast, quick and not laggy. But on this phone, it is TAP to capture, TAP + HOLD to focus.
The camera comes in a few features of setting; Auto, Action, Whiteboard, Night, Beach/Snow.
Also in different shooting mode of Normal, Stabalisation, Burst and HDR.

The next different thing about this is the notification hub which is mainly from the BB10, I love how it has the new sleek design and the notifications are also listed out in the apps  so you can actually know what notification it is rather than a list and slowly scrolling it down. the BB10 now comes in the Z10, Q10 and the Q5, so these are the 3 phones that can enjoy the new notification feature compared to the old one that is only pure white with no icons and everything is merged together.

    Wrapping it up

The Blackberry Q5 is targetted towards a much more younger age with the fun and youthful look. If you are looking for a touch and type handset and not willing to pay as much for the Q10, then this is it. What i am amazed in the end is, i do not need to subsribe to BIS or BES monthly to use the apps of the phone (which to be honest was quite annoying with my Bold 2). The downside of the blackberries for me were the annoying BIS and BES that i had to pay extra montly on top of the data plan that i have to purchase as well, so cutting out the BIS and BES is so much more convenient because now i can connect to wifi and use it straight away without any annoying "data connection" errors.

I've been using the Q5 for 3 days straight to test out how would it feel using it, and i would say i love it.  the only downside for me is that i use my phone the entire day and i use it for mails, facebook, twitter, instagram, whatsapp and all that. I sometimes draft blog post on my phone as well. So by using a phone that has a keypad, it ruins my nails or hurts my finger due to the long constant pressing on the keypads. BUT, the upside of it is that, i can actually feel the keypads on my thumbs and sometimes, it's nice to feel old school once a while.

    The downside about this phone?
    - It DOES NOT have instagram (but i don't blame them for it and hope that they will develop the app and release it ASAP! *fingers crossing* )
    - THe QWERTY keyboard could be better in terms of making it much more softer. LOL (so it wouldn't break my nails)
    - i need to tap the top in order to put it to sleep or wake it up. (or maybe there's a setting where i can press any key and the screen will turn on and i will just have to unlock it.
    - there is no home button, (but there have the touch motion where i touch from the blackberry icon on top of the qwerty keypad upwards to the screen and it goes to home, but i guess it's one of those things if i get use to it then it wouldn't be a problem)
    - i can't shut the camera shutter noise.

    Yay about the Q5
    - I'm amazed at the camera, all i need to do is tap snap tap snap.
    - It's not expensive for a relevant phone with features you get on this.
    - The notification hub
    - Docs To Go
    - Speed is fast.
    - Long lasting battery.
    - Clear Crisp Display

and the list could go on.

So, what do you think of this phone? Would you get it? I know there is no winning comparing to the Z10, Q10, or Samsung Galaxy Note2 and all that. But would this be a phone you hold or would you recommend it to someone? And what are your thoughts on it?

Thank you Starhub and Blackberry for the phone for me to review it.
