Normal Eyelash Curler VS Heated Eyelash Wand

By Gwendolyn Me - August 03, 2013

How many of you curl your lashes daily and do you need them?

If you are Asian, you would problem have this problem - short stubborn straight lashes.
Right? If you are not Asian, you'd probably have amazing long pretty lashes that wouldn't have problem with curling them.

I have not really been a lash-fan. I do not use fake lashes nor am i obssessed with curling them (past-tense), and the reason it's because i have never been able to get the curl that i want. So back then, if i use mascara or not, it didn't really have any difference unless you are an inch away from my face.

The first regular manual eyelash curler, was the shuumera one because everyone has been raving sooooo much about it that i had to get one because it was being raved so much. Unfortunately, i did not have a good experience with it. I'm not saying that it is bad, but it is just my experience on it.
(note: just because i had a bad experience with it and it doesn't suit me, doesn't mean it's not going to be with you. So a tip for you, go into a shuumera counter to request to try it out )

After the rubber tip tore, i did not bother to buy a refill, because i wasn't allow to buy a refill, and i felt it was a little stupid to buy the curler again as it did not suit me. So i stayed away from curlers, until when i was in Hong Kong this year, I walked into a japanese shop in Langham Place where they sold all sorts of Japanese skin care and cosmetic stuff and for those who know me, that placed was heaven for me. The unfortunate thing about being in Malaysia is, things are limited.

As i was going through the eyelash section, everything was in Japanese! damn i wish i knew how to read at that moment, i didn't know the difference between each, and some of the same brand and design had two different kinds, so i guess it was the size of the curve of the curler. I figured, these stuff are from Japan, so they should be suited for Asian stubborn lashes right?? Then it hit me that Shuumera was from japan as well, but then as i was browsing through, i figured and guessed out and grabbed the smaller size of the curl ones. Turns out, it fit my lashes and was much more useful and beneficial compared to the shuumera one.

It wasn't until two months ago, i got sick of using the curler because everytime it just doesn't curl and turn out to how i want it and travelling with it was hard. As my makeup bag is normally full, so stuffy a chunky curler wasn't easy. Till then i decided to get a heated eyelash curler, and while i was in Singapore, i saw a few from SASA. They were some different brands from sasatinne to 1000hour and some other ones, i decided to pick 1000hour because it's an australian brand, and it just feels trustable. After i first used the heated eyelash curler, i practically abandoned my normal eyelash curler until now.

As you can see, how inconvenient is a regular lash curler to be brought out for touch ups or to be stuffed inside the makeup bag, and now with the heated curler wand, I can just chuck it into my make up bag and doesn't take much space.  I have abandoned it for that reason and also mainly, the heated eyelash curler gave me the effects and outcome better comparison to the normal regular manual eyelash curler clamp.

What are the differences??

The heated eyelash wand gives a smooth waving curl, and I also get to adjust how curly I want it to be. Whereas for the regular eyelash curler clamps your eyelashes and you have no way to undo it, and another thing about it is that it clamps my lashes in a 90 degree way and rather than a nice aging curling lash.

Are you a clamper or a heater? What is your favorite lash curler? Do share your stories as I would love to read them :)

  1. Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just
your articles? I mean, what you say is important and all. But think about if you added some great images or video clips to give your
posts more, "pop"! Your content is excellent but with
images and videos, this site could undeniably be one of
the best in its field. Terrific blog!
