Dr Morita Face Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask | GwenBeauty

Face mask is something that I use once every two days. That is almost 3-4 times per week. It's just a quick and easy way to re-hydrate and rejuvenate my skin the quick, easy and efficient way. This would also mean that I've gone through a whole lot of different brands of face mask and there's bound to have good and bad ones.

Recently, I've been loving a brand called Dr. Morita.

Almost four years ago, I came across this brand in Singapore and I tried one of their face mask which was really good. But over the years, I've never really seen it in Malaysia and I go through so many face mask that it did not really come across my mind until recently I've been spotting it in Guardian Malaysia and friends have been talking about it.

My all time favourite would be the Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask (The Blue One). This goes into my #monthlyFavourites as well as #HolyGrail

Dr Morita also has a starter pack that comes with

  • Narcissus Whitening Essence Ultra Slim Facial Mask
  • Hyaluronic Acid Moisture Essence Mask
  • Collagen Repair Essence Mask.

The packaging on a first impression looks the same as any other face mask but what's really good about it is that their face mask sheets are made of Tencel Silk cotton mask, a man-made fiber that allows all the essence and active ingredients to be absorbs and to the skin and not only that, it doesn't feel tacky, sticky, hard, and dry after applying it for 10-20 minutes.

Packed and sealed nicely

They aren't many sheet face mask with really good quality. One that isn't harsh that irritates the skin or the ones that dries out quick.

The few problems that I face mostly with other brands sheet mask are; (something that i define bad)
  1. Cotton sheets are too dry/Face Mask dries up and stiffens after 15 minutes.
  2. Face Mask are either too dry or too "drenched" and ends up either NOTHING being absorbed onto the skin or essenve/water dripping everywhere
  3. Face mask sliding down my face or not fitting well.

but with Dr. Morita face mask, not only it's drenched with the right amount, it doesn't leave essence dripping down my chin or face. The face mask is quite a good size fitting without it sliding down my face as well. Not only that, after 15-20 minutes, it's not dry and I can still easily remove and put it on my neck/hands and leg for a hand-me-down mini pampering mask session.

So, i've tried the few Dr Morita mask for the past two weeks, and I have to say, my skin has become brighter, clearer, smoother and much more moisturising.

Due to the whole El-Nino and the heat that this country is facing. My rosecea has been flaring up really bad. #noJoke and I shall talk/share about it one day.

But, let me show you a before after photo of my left chin to show you the effects.
Throughout my entire skincare routine for both day and night HAVE been the same with the same products that i've been rotating throughout the month and the ONLY thing i've changed and added is the Dr Morita face mask.

Right before this, I've been having de-hydrated dry sensitive with rosecea flaring up which can be quite annoying. Moisturisers, Face Oils and Serums were not enough to re-hydrate my skin.

I'm SERIOUS! If you look at this photo and the "BEFORE" photo, you can actually see the dry skin patches that are now no longer around thanks to Dr Morita. I think my pictures have shown much more than my words can describe. Those who knows me will know that I always say no matter skin type you have, in whatever weather you are in, be in dry, oily or combination - hydration is always important. Just because you have oily skin doesn't mean you skin your moisturisers or you can ignore hydration and just because you have normal skin doesn't mean you can ignore. Prevention is better than cure remember?

Kononnya, It’s the number 1 Best Selling Facial Sheet mask in Hong Kong & Taiwan. And as of right now, there are 13 series of facial sheet mask & 2 watery cream (sleeping mask) in Malaysia & it’s exclusively in Guardian nationwide.

If your'e looking for face mask, need a quick fix or you're travelling. Or even just going to Guardian, Grab yourself a box and try it out! They are available in Guardian Malaysia Nationwide (only exclusive in Guardian).

Dr Morita's face sheet mask are only RM22.90 for a box and the Dr Morita Watery Cream is RM39.90.

Let me know if you've tried them and how it has changed your skin!

DocLab Face Ampoule - The benefits of Hyaluronic Acid

Face Ampoules are now getting much more popular and more brands are coming in. Before this, ampoules were highly used in the makeup artist industry because of the instant and long-lasting effect it creates.

Recently, I've been trying out a new set of face ampoules by DocLab which is voted as Korea's No 1 face ampoules!

DocLab face ampoule apparently claims to boost skin moisture and provide deep hydration with their Hyaluronic Acid technology. ALSO, with Collagen and Ginseng Extract as their active ingredients, these ampoules are able to restore skin suppleness, elasticity, retextures skin and making your skin smooth as well as protect your skin from harmful chemicals and pollutants.

Ampoules are known as small airtight products that are filled with concentrated high active ingredients, they usually come in sizes like 5ml/10ml but sold in boxes so you get maybe about 30ml-50ml depending how many ampoules are in a box.

What are the benefits of using DocLab's Hyaluronic Acid Face Ampoules?
- Makeup last longer
- Skin is more hydrated
- Controls sebum, balance your skin PH (Hence oily/dry/combo/normal skin wouldn't be a problem)
- Repairs skin (anti-wrinkles & Hyper-pigmentation)
- Skin is more radiant and supple.

How to use the DocLab's Hyaluronic Acid Face Ampoules?
Day: Cleanse -> Tone -> Ampoule -> Moisturiser -> Sunblock -> Makeup
Night: Cleanse -> Tone -> Ampoule -> Night Cream
Treatment: Cleanse -> Tone -> Ampoule -> Mask -> Moisturiser

My thoughts on it:
When I opened the box and took out the first ampoule, I was a little confused and unsure of how to open the ampoule. It was then I realised I had to slowly tilt the tip to one side and push it down. There is a rubber seal/quality seal inside which is sealed up air-tight so even though it was a little confused with the packaging I think it's a good one as it's packed nicely ensuring quality will be remained in there. Also, once you've opened it, you can't close it back, therefore you know it's a legit quality seal.

This ampoule has a very light watery texture, in fact, it felt like water and I was very afraid of spilling it. Lesson learnt; pour it on my palm not the back of my hand. Took me a while to figure out how to apply it as it is so watery, so in the end, i placed it on my palm and dabbed it onto my face like how i would use any of my treatment essence (Ex: SKII, EL Micro Essence Lotion, Missha Treatment Lotion, etc...) With this, the product is pat directly onto my face and I would also ensure it's not placed onto only one spot or dripping everywhere. Unlike serum which usually has a thicker, much more concentrated texture, this is watery and you just need to get a hang of it.

I love how it doesn't have a sticky feeling to it like certain sheet mask or serum. It's not heavy and doesn't irritate your skin. HA is known for deep hydration and most HA products are very sticky, so I was really surprised with this as well.

I was worried at first, as I suffer from Rosecea and with the high heat during this month, my face has been flaring and acting up. I hesitated and wanted to push this till the redness has gone away but after two weeks I realised that I could give this a shot to see how it works on sensitive skin as well. How did it go? It did not flare up my skin but i wake up with a morning with no redness. Then again the minute the heat comes in, the redness starts again (but this can't be changed)

Would I recommend it?

Another month has passed and here we are again for another monthly favourites. Some of the products you might have seen it on my snapchat/instagram throughout the months as well.

So let's see what do we have...

1. Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette
When UD just launched the smoky palette last year in August, I had to grab my hands on it, despite me having the palette 1 and 3. And I was lucky to be able to grab it the first week it was launched in Malaysia. #luckyMe
As usual, I always loved UD's eyeshadow because it's so creamy and pigmented.
2. Biotherm Life Plankton Essence
I cannot love this enough and cannot believe how not many people know about this product. With the heat and crazy weather, my rosacea has been flaring up and this product is one of the very few that has not only calm my skin down but provided the moisture and protection I need.
3. Biotherm Blanc Therapy CC Cream - anti redness
I was introduced to Biotherm this month, with the life plankton collection and the whole Blanc Therapy CC creams. What i love about this the most is that it contains SPF50 (yay protection!) Anyone who knows me will know how i see the importance of sunscreen. The anti-redness one comes in a green tint and you should know by now that green is the contrast for red. Hence why many anti-redness products have a green tint.
4. Shuumera Skin Purifier Cleansing Oil
Shuumera has always been famous for their cleansing oil and so far i've used the anti/oxi skin refining anti-dullness cleansing oil (green color) when Carol bought the travel size and I've loved it then. This time, we were given a free travel size for Skin Purifier (brown one) and it's amazing. I expected it to be the same as the anti-oxi but surprisingly it wasn't - this was much lighter in terms of texture and it wasn't as oily as the anti-oxi.
5. B.Liv Submerge Me - Moisturizing Booster
I cannot get enough of this moisturiser. I feel that it's so underrated and not many people know about it. May has been a very hot weather and my Rosacea has flared up, and whenever it does, my skin would become dry and this is the B.Liv submerge me is the only thing that doesn't agitate my skin, provides me that layer of moisturising protection. Apparently this has antioxidant and anti-aging. But we shall see.
6. Mustela Hydrabebe Body Lotion
Best Body Lotion ever. period. LOL This is like my holy grail body lotion. I look up to this so much that any other body lotion that I review will be now compared to this already. This shows how much I love this.
7. Mustela PhysiObebe Cleansing Fluid
To be honest I was a little skeptical in the beginning about this. But after using it, OMG. I cannot say enough about it. Wiping hands have never felt cleaner. LOL. Hand sanitiser that doesn't smell like alcohol? This is the one for you too! Asides that, I've used it as a makeup instant anti-bacterial clean right before i use it.

8. Jill Stuart Treatment Hair Mist
Weeks ago Carol brought me to a clearance sale in Pavilion and the one thing that caught my attention was the Jill Stuart corner. (OMG! How can you not fall in love with any of the Jill Stuart packagings? They make your dressing table feel so princess-sy). Asides the pretty packaging, this Hair Mist has also been the one item that I found myself grabbing often throughout the month. I've recently bleached my hair again in April, therefore my entire hair care routine has switched around and this is not just moisturising, it doesn't weight my damaged hair down, not greasy and my roots are not oily as well. On top of everything, the scent is just amazing.
9. YSL Touche Eclat Foundation in shade B10
If you follow me on snapchat you would have realised that i've been grabbing this foundation throughout the month. Well, good things are meant to be shared right? Some people say that the price is a little overrated but then the finishing is very different. I would say that the dupe for this and the closest is the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation but then only difference is that this doesn't transfer as much as that, it gives a dewy finishing and doesn't not cake up. The only problem with the Bobbi Brown skin Foundation is that you need setting powder to set it in, the YSL Touche Eclat Foundation does not need that.
10. Chloe Parfum -  Eau De Toilette
I was never a fan of the rose scent. It has always reminded me of Lovely Lace and I didn't like the overwhelming scent of it. But, when I was given the sample of this, I fell in love with it. Funny how things work out isn't it? And if you know me, you would know that I have quite a number/collection of scents on my table which I would pick and use according to occasions and everything else. The Chloe Parfum is the one that I have been grabbing mostly the past few months especially seeing the boy.

Anyone who knows me would know how much I love watches. Downside about it is that, sometimes, I really love a particular design, but feel that it's not worth to buy it because of the mechanics/how it's made and the whole package. ANOTHER reason why, it's too common. You're bound to bump into a friend or even a stranger with the same watch. Well, I don't mind if it's a good watch, that means someone knows the quality and have the same liking as me. Nothing wrong with that.

But what if, you had a ONE-OF-A-KIND watch? Everybody loves limited edition - a unique, one in a million kind.

I stumbled upon instagram on a brand called EONIQ - a start up fashion brand started by three friends in Hong Kong led by Quinn Lai.

I knew immediately, this was the perfect gift.

It was pretty easy to work on.

You can create your watch on your laptop/desktop, tablet or even your mobile phone. BUT of course if you want to upload a file for engraving, best to do it on laptop/desktop.

When I first saw this, I was a little skeptical tbh. I know everyone would.

p/s. spot the watch at the end. LOL

I contemplated, searched and looked up at them for a really long time. And decided what could go bad? Everything's clean and pretty good on social media.

Few reasons why I went ahead with it.
1. It's a custom-made watch. Meaning it's limited edition/one in a million (okay, not even one in a million, it's ONE in the world) kind of watch. Anyone who has the same watch/design, would be a copycat.
2. With that, it's a very strong personal statement and a very meaningful gift that people who value it would really appreciate it.
3. It's a mechanical watch - the Miyota 8 series movement which is the legendary 21 jewel powering some of the most robust watches including the drive and pilot watches. Mechanical watches right now are highly overpriced with a good quality/brand and would at least cost RM2.5k for a good one.
4. The watch is entirely hand assemmbled and checked by a single watchmaker, with the proper tradition way of watchmaking (HOW COOL IS THAT??)

Asides that, the all-time-famous Daniel Wellington where 8/10 would own have owned one, doesn't allow you to customise it, AND, it's an analog quartz watch. Which retails now roughly at RM800. When DW came into the whole Social Media sphere, I was excited. I loved the clean, sleek minimal yet classy design. But I was in a hunt for something sentimental, something more personal, and EONIQ came to me. Not literally to me, but their ads on Instagram appeared on my feed.

Took me 5 days to decide and design the watch, and another 4 weeks to arrived to me. (that's a very loooong time)

- Creating the watch was easy, steps were given and everything was in a single page.
- The difficult part was the finalise and select the final design to check-out with because EVERYTHING LOOKS SO GOOD!
- Customer service via email and Facebook were really quick, responsive and helpful with my queries. (I needed it within 4 weeks and they were able to send it to me even though the website states it would take about 5-6 weeks)

When it finally arrived, I couldn't be any happier. I was really satisfied with the finishing, how it turned out to me, the rose gold rims and the brown leather strap.

You guys should know by now that I love Bobbi Brown skincare and makeup. From their foundations to their cleansers and makeup removers. People always do ask me, "Is it really worth it?"

So today, I'll be reviewing the Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream and let's see if it's worth every cent to everything it claims to be.

Just to make it clear for new readers; I have dry combination skin with sensitive skin (Rosecea). The annoying oily T-zone and dry cheeks. Weird right? That's why moisturisers are tricky where it can't be too heavy or too light. I don't really mind layering my skincare at night, but during the day is what I need to look out for.

I have always thought that the Bobbi Brown Extra range is for dry, dehydrated skin or aging. So when I was given a try on this moisturiser and a few other of the range. I was surprised how it turned out!

First things first - the scent. I love the scent. It reminds me of lemongrass and citrus. Can't really get a hang of what the scent is as there is quite a few ingredient in there (which we will get into it later). If you've smelt and used the Bobbi Brown Extra Balm Rinse, it is similar to that, but less tangy.

I love how it comes it their sleek simple packaging. Although the tub is a downside. But it's made of glass and it's sturdy. With the inventions of spatula, I no longer need to dig my nails into the tub. LOL

Let's see what does it claim to do?

*          *          *          *          *

What it is:
Extra Repair Moisturizing Cream contains all the benefits of Bobbi’s cult-favorite Extra Repair Moisturizing Balm but with a lightweight, luxurious cream texture that's perfect for layering and prepping skin for seamless foundation application.

Who it's for: It's ideal for normal to extra-dry skin types and perfect for those in humid climates or anyone who prefers a lighter feel for their cream.

Why it's different: This skin-nourishing formula utilizes unique Triple Emulsion Technology to give the cream its lightweight texture while still allowing it to be incredibly moisturizing. It's made with omega-rich sunflower oil—an ingredient packed with essential fatty acids—to provide moisturization without a heavy feel. Glycerin and sodium hyaluronate plump and smooth the appearance of fine, dry lines, while shea butter provides a protective barrier against moisture loss. Skin looks fresher, smoother and firmer for a healthier-looking appearance over time.

How to use: Massage onto clean skin morning and night.

Bobbi’s tip: Perfect makeup starts with smooth, healthy, glowing skin. In addition to helping skin look fresher and more vibrant instantly, Bobbi’s skincare products work like a pre-makeup primer. The skin’s condition changes on a daily basis due to factors like stress, diet and sleep. It’s important to continuously look at the skin to see what it needs. You can also create options in your skincare routine by layering moisturizer.

Formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Phthalates

Active ingredients:
-Glycerin and Sodium Hyaluronate: Plump and smooth the appearance of fine, dry lines.
-Shea Butter: Provides a protective barrier against moisture loss.
-Omega-Rich Sunflower Oil: An ingredient packed with essential fatty acids that provides moisture without a heavy feel.
-Triple Emulsion Technology: Gives the cream its lightweight texture while still allowing it to be incredibly moisturising.

Other ingredients:

What's my verdict?
The Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream is made for those with normal to dry skin and humid climates. That means, it's suitable for Summer/Malaysia/Singapore countries where the heat and humidity is terrible. My skin loves it as it balance out the combination skin, locks in the moisture for the dry areas without obvious dry patches showing out, my foundation lays on properly and sets nicely and the oily T-Zone does not shine like diamonds. It shows that there is anti-aging properties but I wouldn't say much about that, because in the end, how do you judge if anti-aging properly does work?

The moisturiser isn't the heavy creamy thick kind of texture but rather a gel kind of cream, it glides on my skin without any tugging and spreads evenly. It absorbs really quickly with no greasy or layer of shine over it. I was surprised even when I layer my skincare at night. I had a semi-matte baby skin look, which was what made me love it!

The Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream cost RM335 for 50ml.
Is it worth it? Yes, even though it's on the pricer end. But it is considered to be a higher end luxury skincare.
Would I recommend it? Yes.
Does it claim what it does, I would honestly have to finish the whole tub or at least 3-6 months of constant use in order to review if my skin got immune to it, and if they were any after-effects. But so far, loving it. This made me wanna try the rest of the Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Range. Have you guys tried any yet?

Till then, Remember! You’re never ugly, only if you’re lazy! :)

Face powders are one of the most important things I would say regardless of having dry, oily or combination skin. And even if you don't wear foundation, it gives your skin that lasting fresh look.
It could be used to set your foundation, or as a protection barrier to your skincare. It could be used to mattify your skin or give you that extra glow.

Most people are afraid to use it as they think it would cake up your face or make them look older. But it doesn't.

One of my favourite powder is the Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder.

Though the product only comes in one size, 5g, I think it's quite decent since it retails at RM28.15

This year, Innisfree celebrates it's 10th year anniversary with launching their limited edition no sebum mineral powder packaging.
Bear in mind, the formulation is the name, just the packaging difference. But how cute it is!!A great gift for your girlfriends. :D

And it is available it 10 different colors with greeting messages in both English and Korean version from;
Thank You
Good Luck
Best Friend Forever
Dreams Come True
You Are the Best

The thing about Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder asides being a replacement for oil control paper and saying bye-bye to greasy oily face, there are also other usage such as; Dry Shampoo, Eye Primer, Deodorant, Matte Lipstick.

As matte as it sounds and the word "No-Sebum" seems to be shouting everywhere, I suffer from dry sensitive skin with rosecea and the last thing I want is powder drying up my face and dry patches appearing. ugh, hate that! This product doesn't give me that problem.

You can buy these limited edition no-sebum mineral powder here at
Or their Facebook page at

Most of us who suffers from dandruff, be it oily or dry scalp always would need to be in a dilemma to pick between a dandruff shampoo or a shampoo that repairs your hair. Many of the dandruff shampoo out there such as selsun blue, head&shoulders, or clear or any other, contains ingredients such as selenium sulfide, salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc or anti-fungal agents which are high in chemicals. They are even products that contains menthol for anti-itch leaving you with a nice cool feeling. But all these are temporary relief that doesn't fix your problem.

Many people including me suffer from the itch and the unglam white flakes be it oily scalp or dry scalp. It can be embarrassing! Imagine going out on a first date and the guy sees you with dandruff. How unattractive that can be! #pointsminus for you. LOL

So when Phyto approach me which their new range of anti-dandruff shampoo, I was a little skeptical at first thinking "Real or not want!"

BUT! I decided to give it a try because they claimed to use botanical essence, being paraben-free, fragrance-free and all that.

SO? Let's see...

* * *

Phytosquam - A unique formula that no longer requires to choose between anti-dandruff effectiveness and beautiful hair. This is a range which removes dandruff while providing beauty and vitality to the hair.

I really like the packaging, very sleek and simple!

Phytosquam is a new range that just launched last month and it comes with three products in two different types.

1. Phytosquam Intense - Anti-dandruff intense treatment shampoo
This is to be used before you shower, massage into your dry scalp and leave it in for 5-7 minutes. Like a pre-shampoo. But once you've added water and massage throughly, it emulsifies and your rinse it off.

2. Phytosquam Shampoo
- Anti-dandruff moisturizing shampoo ( For softness & Shine )
- Anti-dandruff purifying shampoo ( For radiance & Lightness )

Excited or not? LOL

But, i'll leave the reviews till next day. If not it's going to be a never ending post.

Phytosquam range is available in store at Sephora and it retails at:
Phytosquam Intense Anti-Dandruff Treatment 200ml - RM140
Phytosquam Anti-Dandruff Moisturising Shampoo 200ml - RM160
Phytosquam Anti-Dandruff Purifying Shampoo 200ml - RM160

Most of you would have known that four years ago I started bleaching and dying my hair. From orange to blonde to platinum to pink to ginger and red for the past two years.
Finally it has faded to a pinkish copper red color. Because for the past five months I didn’t really maintain it.
Before any of you decide to go red, please know that it’s not easy to maintain.
After weeks of consideration, today I’ve finally got rid of my red hair.
Before the whole thing started #nofilter
1st step: Bleaching to get red of the red tone.
I had to bleach twice and the whole process took two hours.
Because my hair has been bleached and it’s very damage. So my stylist took extra care.
It wasn’t just to remove the Reds but also to even it out and make sure the colouring later would be toned out nicely too.
Second round bleaching
By the time he was done after two hours. This was the result.
Puffy, damaged bleached hair.
Colouring starts and it was a two tone colouring. The whole application process was 30 minutes
Washing the colors
Finally, after 7 hours
Yes I’m really liking my new hair color. Although I’m still trying to get use to the new color and the “no-bright” or red/ginger hair anymore.

Woke up today and as usual, I go through Instagram. And saw a evil queen makeup contest by GSC collaborated with the new upcoming movie – The huntsman: winter war.
The trailer is amazing and I can’t wait to watch it! The first huntsman was so good!! So I was sitting there contemplating and H told me to go for it.
So I got up, washed my face and prep with skincare and base.
Decided to go for the snow queen look. #shadesofblue
Searched for some inspiration. Had to improvise with whatever I have
So I started of with my eyes and foundation. I didn’t have a white or fairer foundation cause my usual shade is the lightest I can find. Maybe I should invest in face paint. LOL
Then I thought maybe I should add some blues.
But as evil and poisonous I am. Black it is.
Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?
Shameless selfie time
Really liked how my eyes turned out. #vainpot
Okay! Last one. I promise
Removed everything and back to my everyday look.
